Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson was arrested after an early morning brawl with two men at a Brooklyn hotel today and charged with assault and disorderly conduct, police said.
Tyson suffered minor cuts on his hands and was treated at the scene, police said.
The boxer became involved in a dispute with two men and a woman at a Marriott hotel where he was a guest.
A fight erupted and the two men, whom police would not identify, picked up an object in the hotel's lobby and "menaced" Tyson with it, a police spokeswoman said.
The two men were charged with menacing and disorderly conduct. One of the men and the woman were taken to Bellevue Hospital for unknown injuries, police said.
Police did not have information on what caused the fight.
Several hours after the brawl, Tyson was being held at the police department's 84th Precinct in north Brooklyn, a spokesman said. He could not confirm whether Tyson would continue to be held or released.
Tyson, who has had several highly publicized run-ins with the law, once bit off part of his opponent's ear in a boxing match.
He was also convicted and imprisoned for three years for raping a former beauty queen in 1991. Last month, Tyson, who denied the rape, but said he was so angry he now wanted to rape the woman.
