James Milner gave Leeds fans something to cheer after another difficult week as the Barclaycard Premiership's bottom club sneaked a 1-0 win at Charlton.

Milner slotted home from a Mark Viduka pass in the ninth minute to give caretaker manager Eddie Gray his first points in charge and end a run of six straight defeats for the Elland Road club.

Leeds, who earlier this week revealed they are close to administration, wiped out their three-point deficit at the foot of the table with victory today, although their appalling goal difference means Wolves remain just above Gray's side.

Fellow relegation battlers Leicester also claimed maximum points today with a 2-0 win at Fratton Park which drags Portsmouth into a relegation dogfight.
