Millwall to increase Wise security

Millwall will increase the security around Dennis Wise for his return to Leicester, the club who sacked him, on Saturday.

Millwall will increase the security around Dennis Wise for his return to Leicester, the club who sacked him, on Saturday.

Wise received death threats following his decision to sue the Foxes for wrongful dismissal over a pre-season incident which left team-mate Callum Davidson with a fractured cheekbone.

The former Wimbledon and Chelsea midfielder is assured of a hot reception at the Walkers Stadium with Lions fans banned from attending on police advice.

Millwall are urging their supporters to obey the ban, but confirmed they will be taking extra measures to ensure Wise's safety.

Security and operations advisor Ken Chapman said: "We've looked at every aspect of security and tightened up on certain areas because we'd anticipated this was going to be a difficult match.

"It would be naive to expect anything but a hostile atmosphere. But there is no excuse for any of our supporters to go up there and we've asked our fans to be responsible.

"The match at the New Den went without incident and we're hoping for the same level of professionalism from Leicester."

Foxes fans were banned from the hot-tempered 2-2 draw between the sides last month in which Brian Deane was sent off for a foul on Wise, who scored the equalising goal for Millwall.
