Skopje - There is a real prospect of putting Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic on trial for war crimes, Ms Louise Arbour, chief prosecutor of the UN's International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, said yesterday.
Mr Milosevic and four other Yugoslav leaders have been indicted by the tribunal for crimes against humanity because of the atrocities committed by their forces against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
In Belgrade, opposition activists have collected more than 150,000 signatures demanding Mr Milosevic's resignation, but the police have banned further action, organisers of the initiative said yesterday.
