Minister opens €6m buildings for Irish schools

The Minister for Education and Science, Mr. Noel Dempsey, T.D., today opened two buildings for Irish-language schools Coláiste Eoin and Coláiste Íosagáin in Stillorgan, Dublin.

Speaking of the €6 million project, Minister Dempsey commended the cooperation  between the schools in the project..

"As a result of this cooperation the schools now have . . . facilities that includes, new classrooms, lecture theatre, two science laboratories, home economics room, technology room, computer room, library arts/craft room, PE hall and staff room."

The Minister also praised the contribution of the joint parents' committee who raised over €1.5 million towards the cost of the school hall to allow a larger facility to be provided.

Speaking of the founders of the schools Minister Dempsey said "They must be very proud indeed of their work and their vision when they see all of the students here today in beautiful surroundings receiving an excellent education and having fluent Irish."

Addressing the students, the Minister said "You will be taking the ancient traditions of Ireland with you between Irish culture, music, dance, song and most importantly the Irish language. Have respect always for that great tradition which you received here in Coláiste Eoin and Coláiste Íosagáin."
