Motorists have been urged to drive responsibly this Bank Holiday weekend by the Minister of State for the Environment, Mr Bobby Molloy. Eleven people were killed in road accidents over the last Bank Holiday in August. Mr Molloy called on drivers to support the "Lights for Life" campaign which urges drivers to keep lights on at all times.
"Get in your car, belt up, start the engine, turn on your lights - and before you drive away from the kerb, remember this: if you are old enough to drive, you are old enough to drive responsibly," the Minister said.
