Four undocumented construction workers from Co Cavan, three of them brothers, who were feared dead following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centre have been found alive, but seriously injured, in St Vincent's Hospital in New York.
The New York-based Irish Voice newspaper reported the news yesterday. All four suffered concussions and multiple injuries, including broken limbs and head injuries, but all are expected to survive.
The men had given false names because they do not have legal status in the US and feared the response of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (INS).
Mr Caoimhgh∅n O'Caolβin, the Sinn FΘin TD for Cavan-Monaghan, who was contacted by the families of the four men following the attack, said last night they were indescribably relieved but had requested anonymity.
