British software group Misys announced today that it would acquire US firm Sunquest, which specializes in providing software to hospitals, for $404 million dollars (euro 470 million).
Misys said 76 per cent of Sunquest shareholders had agreed to the offer and added that the acquisition would enhance its position as a supplier of US healthcare systems.
"The acquisition of Sunquest consolidates Misys' position as a leading provider of healthcare information systems, extending Misys' presence into the acute care market, making it well placed to exploit the expected growth in clinical systems," said Misys chairman Mr Kevin Lomax.
Misys stock fell another one per cent to 480p early today.
