Fine Gael deputy leader and finance spokesman, Mr Jim Mitchell, was yesterday cleared of driving without reasonable consideration and failing to obey a traffic garda's signal over what Judge John O'Neill described as "ambiguous" road markings.
Mr Mitchell denied the charges which arose over the way he negotiated a major roundabout on the M50 motorway.
Dublin District Court heard he was in the wrong lane for proceeding westward when he cut into the correct lane on May 19th last.
