Customs officials are continuing their investigations into the seizure of a mobile petrol-laundering facility in Co Louth early yesterday morning.

A spokeswoman said 25,000 litres of diesel fuel along with the trailer used in the operation were seized at Ravensdale near Dundalk at about 6 a.m. At its full capacity the mobile unit is capable of processing 50,000 litres of fuel per week.

The unit is believed to have been used to "wash" the dye from industrial diesel so it could be resold as the more expensive clear diesel. No arrests have been made.
