An application for an order restraining interference with the erection of mobile telephone equipment on lands at Dromavalley, Tralee, will come before the High Court on Monday. O2 Communications (Ireland) Ltd is seeking an order restraining trespass by a number of defendants at the site.
The case had been before Mr Justice Lavan on Monday last but he adjourned it until yesterday to allow time for affidavits to be filed. Yesterday, the judge adjourned the proceedings until Monday next and extended the time to the defence for filing affidavit evidence.
Teenager accused of arson attack
A teenager appeared at Cork District Court yesterday in connection with an arson attack on a plastics factory which caused €6 million worth of damage.
Mr Jason Heaphy (18), Kerryhall Road, Cork, was charged with causing criminal damage by arson at Keytech Ltd, Commons Road, in the city on August 13th, 2001. The teenager is charged with burglary at the factory on the same date. Garda Con O'Sullivan told the court Mr Heaphy said "I'm not pleading guilty to that at all," when he was arrested and cautioned in Cork city yesterday morning.
Judge Con O'Leary remanded Mr Heaphy on bail of €5,000 and adjourned the case until January 7th, 2003, to facilitate the preparation of a book of evidence.
Concern at coastal erosion in Courtown
Business leaders, fishermen and hoteliers in the popular seaside resort of Courtown, Co Wexford have met amid growing concerns over rapid coastal erosion in the area.
Concern is being expressed about the availability of funds to complete the works, which are expected to cost upwards of €5 million.
