More than 600 model aircraft enthusiasts will gather in Cork this weekend for the World Championships for Model Aircraft, which is being held under the auspices of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, writes Dick Hogan.
The Model Aeronautics Council of Ireland was one of a number of national federations which sought to host the championships and beat off strong bids from, among others, Spain and Poland. Competitors from 40 nations will be competing at the Cork racecourse in Mallow over the coming week.
