Campaigners against the "downgrading" of Monaghan General Hospital have called on the Minister for Health to take action against the North Eastern Health Board if it does not reinstate recently withdrawn hospital services, writes Joe Humphreys.
Mr Mackie Moyna, chairman of the Dublin-based Friends of Monaghan Hospital group, said it had advised the Ministers for Health and Finance "that nothing short of immediate reform or indeed total abolishment of the health boards is the only way forward". He was speaking at a meeting of supporters in Dublin yesterday.
The NEHB has described the changes as a "reconfiguration" designed to best manage resources.
