Doctor Fremantle fared best of the foreign raiders in the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp this evening but was no match for an ultra-impressive winner in Montmartre.

The former had finished fourth in the Vodafone Derby and had to settle for the same position as the Alain de Royer-Dupre-trained winner turned the Group One contest into a procession.

Ridden confidently as ever by Christophe Soumillon, the son of Montjeu quickened spectacularly off a strong pace and shot lengths clear of his nearest pursuers before being eased close home.

Prospect Wells and Magadan were second and third, having been the last two turning into the straight, where Doctor Fremantle was just in front of them.

Ryan Moore's mount then met with traffic problems but in truth nothing was going to beat the Aga Khan's colt, who is now the 4-1 favourite with Totesport for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
