Golf:Winning European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie was involved in a car crash near Glasgow today but did not require hospital treatment.
The Scot was travelling southbound along the A80 in his BMW when the incident happened at approximately 11.30am.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said they had received a report of a collision involving a van, a lorry and two cars.
“Three ambulances were sent to the scene but no-one required hospitalisation. There were minor and superficial injuries,” said the spokesperson.
A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police added: “Police received a report of a crash on the A80 at Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire at around 11.30am today.
“It does not look as though anyone is seriously injured.”
Firefighters helped to clear the vehicles from the carriageway.
Montgomerie, the eight-time European number one, returned to competitive action at the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland earlier this month after guiding Europe to victory in the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in Wales.
