While Kerry's Marc Ó Sé had his four-week ban lifted by the GAA's Central Hearings Committee (CHC) last night, the news wasn't so good for Dublin's Colin Moran who had his red card upheld by the Central Appeals Committee (CAC).

Moran was handed a four-week ban for an incident with Dermot Bannon during Dublin's SFC semi-final victory over Westmeath, for which he initially received only a yellow card.

However, at the request of the Central Competitions Control Committee, referee Pádraig Hughes reviewed the incident and said that he believed a red card would have been in order.

The subsequent ban caused a stir in some quarters as the incident had been highlighted on The Sunday Gamewith many claiming Moran had been the victim of 'trial by television'.

Last night's decision means the Ballyboden St Enda's clubman will miss the Leinster final against Wexford on Sunday week unless he chooses to take his case to the Disputes Resolution Authority.

"The CAC found that there has been no clear infringement or misapplication of rule by the CHC or that Colin Moran's right to a fair hearing has not been compromised to such extent that a clear injustice has occurred," a statement released by the GAA today explained.

"Moran has now exhausted all his avenues of appeal within the GAA.  However, he has the option of lodging a request for Arbitration to the DRA."

Ó Sé, meanwhile, was shown a straight red card by referee Derek Fahy following a shoulder tackle on Cork's Sean O'Brien during last weekend's Munster SFC final defeat to Cork at Páirc Ui Chaoimh.

Last year's footballer of the year immediately launched a successful appeal against the sending off and will now be available for selection ahead of the Kingdom's All-Ireland SFC qualifier.
