More face Drumcree charges

Up to 80 people could face prosecution arising from Drumcree-related violence and disturbances

Up to 80 people could face prosecution arising from Drumcree-related violence and disturbances. The RUC has compiled photographic and video evidence against 80 people suspected of public order offences in Portadown, Belfast and elsewhere over the Drumcree period.

These are additional to the 103 people who have been charged with public order offences arising from the Orange Order protests. During Drumcree, the RUC Chief Constable, Sir Ronnie Flanagan, warned that those engaged in violence could face retrospective prosecution based on video and other evidence.

The RUC is examining additional footage with a view to further charges, the police said yesterday.
