More homes have been targeted in pipe and blast bomb attacks in the North over the weekend, writes Michael Bradley in Belfast.
British army technical officers defused two pipe-bombs discovered behind houses on the Leckagh estate in Magherafelt, Co Derry, on Saturday evening. In Rosemount Gardens in Belfast, a family were unhurt after a blastbomb exploded outside their house shortly after midnight on Friday.
At Easton Crescent in north Belfast, a firework exploded after being thrown through the front window of a house at 1.45 a.m. on Saturday. The house was unoccupied. In Ballymena, Co Antrim, two men and a woman escaped injury following an arson attack on a house. Two tyres were set alight at the front door of the house in Victoria Park shortly after 4 a.m. yesterday. The occupants fled the blaze through an upstairs window.
