The smell from Cork City Morgue when autopsies are being carried out is so overwhelming that staff at the nearby Irish Wheelchair Association offices have been forced to vacate their premises. According to IWA Development Officer, Mr Neil Tobin, many members in Cork city and county no longer call to the office because of the odours from the morgue in White Street.
A spokesman for Cork Corporation said work on a new morgue at Cork University Hospital would begin within a few weeks. The building is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
