The first of two final reports from the Moriarty tribunal is expected by the end of September, sources confirmed yesterday. This report will deal with issues relating to the late Charles Haughey.
The second of the two final reports, dealing with matters relating to Michael Lowry, is expected before the end of next January.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Department of the Taoiseach said it "wouldn't be appropriate" to comment on newspaper claims that extracts from the draft Haughey report had been sent to the Taoiseach and other interested parties earlier this month in order to give them a chance to respond.
Political sources close to the Taoiseach said they were unaware of him receiving an extract from the report, which allegedly criticised his role in co-signing blank cheques drawn against the party leader's account when Mr Haughey led Fianna Fáil.
