Women's Coalition Assembly member Ms Jane Morrice has been chosen to chair next week's motion of no confidence in the Assembly's initial presiding officer, Lord Alderdice. The representative for North Down was chosen yesterday to preside over Monday's debate by representatives of all parties present at the meeting of the committee advising the presiding officer.
The Democratic Unionist Party instigated the motion of no confidence in Lord Alderdice when a vote was taken on the report concerning the pre-Christmas UUP-SDLP pact on North-South bodies and government departments after one day of debate, not two, as the DUP had believed would occur.
