There was high drama at the conclusion of the €30,000 Ladbrokes Irish PGA Championship at Seapoint this afternoon as overnight leader David Mortimer sunk a raking 40-foot eagle putt at the last to hold off favourite Damien McGrane by one shot.

The www.foreireland.com professional had let the European Tour player back in on the short 17th after he made a bogey four to McGrane’s par to leave them both on nine under coming down the last.

McGrane almost holed his chip from off the green for an eagle, before Mortimer sealed the €3,500 first prize with his monster putt for a 68 and an 11 under total.

McGrane was alone in second after he also carded a 68, while St Margaret’s John Kelly also shot four under today to finish in third place on seven under.
