Moscow - Russian authorities decided yesterday to repair the fire-damaged Ostankino tower after technical experts concluded there was no danger of Europe's tallest structure collapsing, Emergency Situations Minister Mr Sergei Shoigu was reported as saying by Interfax.

The minister told a news conference here that the 700-metre cordon around the building had been lifted in the wake of the experts' findings. The perimeter had been in place as a safety precaution since Sunday when the 540-metre tower burst into flames.
