Moses swims record 50m breaststroke

Ed Moses set the world record in the men's 50-metre breaststroke with a time of 27

Ed Moses set the world record in the men's 50-metre breaststroke with a time of 27.39 seconds in a special time trial at the US National Swimming Championships today in Austin, Texas.

It was the second time in two days the world record fell in the event. On Thursday, Stanford's Anthony Robinson notched a time of 27.49 seconds.

An hour before he set the record, Moses - known for his long, smooth stroke and taking fewer of them - said: "I think I should be able to break the record today. I want to get all three of the records in breaststroke."

He set the world record in the 100-metre breaststroke three days ago at one minute 00.29 seconds. On Friday he just missed the world record in the 200-metre breaststroke, winning the race in 2:10.40 seconds.
