The mother of a teenager who died after being attacked by members of a Limerick gang has called for an end to the senseless killings of innocent people.
Bernadette Coughlan made her plea at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin today after the sentencing of three men for their part in the manslaughter of her son Darren (18).
He died in Limerick three days after receiving a beating nearly two years ago.
Joseph Keane, 19, of Greenhills Road, Garryowen, Limerick and Richard Treacy, 19, of Munchins Street, St Mary's Park were sentenced to six years in prison for the manslaughter of Darren Coughlan. Shane Kelly, 20, of Oliver Plunkett St Mary's Park was sentenced to seven years in prison.
During sentencing the three men smiled and winked at supporters in the public gallery.
