London - Devoted mum, Ms Carol Dukes travelled 900 miles so her son could play with his Game Boy on a school trip.
Eleven-year-old Charlie and 39 classmates were bound for the isolated island of Iona to learn about life without modern amenities. Ms Dukes (41) spent £150 on the dash from her home in Berkshire to London's Heathrow Airport and on to Scotland. She caught up with his train at Dumbarton, near Glasgow. "He was a bit diffident when I caught up with him. I guess he was a tad embarrassed," Ms Dukes said.
