MANCHESTER - Ms Jeanette Leyland, the mother of Michaela Leyland (5) who fell ill with meningitis in Majorca, yesterday said she had been devastated after more than 70 holidaymakers refused to fly on the same plane as her daughter.
The girl and her family, from Parr, St Helens, Merseyside, were turned away as they tried to board the plane at Palma airport on Monday.
Michaela, who had been passed fully fit by the Majorca medical authorities, had spent five days in intensive care in Palma but was released on Sunday.
Ms Leylaad said she was first told the flight was cancelled. "Then the captain came over and apologised, saying passengers were worried about flying with Michaela. We were devastated it was really frustrating."
