A mother and her 16-year-old son escaped injury when two petrol bombs failed to ignite after being thrown into their Belfast home overnight.

The incident at Laurelgrove Dale in Castelreagh happened at around midnight. It is thought a stone was thrown through the living window before the devices were thrown.

A third petrol bomb ignited outside the house and caused scorch damage.

Police described the attack as "potentially life-threatening" and called for anyone with information to come forward.
