A Scottish rider was killed today and at least one spectator was injured in a high-speed motorbike crash at the Ulster Grand Prix in Co Antrim.
The accident happened during the initial lap of the first race at the fast Wheeler's Corner section of the Dundrod circuit.
Several bikes collided due to an oil spillage on the road. The rider, Andy Wallace (24), died at the scene.
There are unconfirmed reports that four motorcycles were involved in the crash.
"Several people have been taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening," said a PSNI spokeswoman.
The Grand Prix was suspended while medical personnel treated the casualties.
Mr Wallace was the 32nd rider to lose his life in the 82-year history of the event.
He worked as a motorcycle mechanic and was most recently living in Culloden in the Highlands. He made his superbike debut at the Manx Grand Prix in 2003 and also participated in New Zealand's International "Battle of the Streets" series.
