London - British Foreign Secretary Mr Robin Cook said yesterday he would be using a visit to the Netherlands, where Britain wants the two Libyan suspects in the Lockerbie bombing to be tried, to launch a direct appeal for them to be handed over by the Libyan authorities.
Yesterday, Mr Cook was expected to visit the site at Camp Zeist which was chosen for the trial of two Libyans - Mr Abdel Basset Ali Mohamed al-Megrahi and Mr Lamen Khalifa Fhimah - accused of blowing up a jumbo jet over the Scottish town of Lockerbie.
Libya has sought a trial in a neutral country but has objected to details of the US-British plan for a hearing in the Netherlands under Scottish law and has so far not handed over the two suspects.
Pan Am flight 103 was blown out of the sky just over 10 years ago, killing 270 people on the ground and in the air, including 189 Americans.
