The Northern Ireland Secretary, Dr Mo Mowlam, is concerned that money is still crossing the Atlantic to support groups opposed to the peace process. In an appearance on US TV's Good Morning America, Dr Mowlam said that "extreme elements" in Northern Ireland opposed to the peace agreement were still receiving funds from the United States.
"We are doing what we can, as are the Irish Government, to make sure that they don't get the weapons or the financial support, because they speak for no one," she said. "What is important in Northern Ireland is to understand that after the referendum, the consent of the people both in the North and the Republic, is to follow this peaceful way."
