Former Northern Ireland secretary Mo Mowlam has been voted the nation's favourite politician of all time.

Former Northern Ireland secretary Mo Mowlam has been voted the nation's favourite politician of all time.

The survey by ITV1's This Morningfound that the public chose Ms Mowlam, who died last month, for her honesty and sense of humour. She received one-fifth of the vote in the YouGov poll of 2,000 people.

Ms Mowlam came out ahead of Winston Churchill. Former Tory leader Margaret Thatcher was third, followed by Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Sir Richard Branson is the celebrity people would most like to become an MP, the survey showed.
