A sixteen year old student from Mullingar, Co Westmeath has won the first prize in the Esat BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition 2003.
Adnan Osmani, a sixth year student at St Finian's College, Mullingar won first prize with his entry, a web browser which can download information up to four times faster than conventional browsers.
The Minister for Education and Science, Mr Dempsey, and Mr Tom Byrne, chief financial officer of Esat BT presented Adnan with the prize, a cheque for €3,000 and a Waterford Crystal trophy at yesterday's awards ceremony at the RDS.
Adnan will represent Ireland at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists which takes place in Budapest, Hungary in September.
