Munster beat Llanelli in a tight Celtic League quarter final at Thomond Park and will now face Ulster in the semi-final next weekend.

The Interprovincial champions had trailed for 15 minutes to an early Stephen Jones penalty. Ronan O’Gara had levelled the scores on 23 minutes with peanlty, but, it wasn’t until eight minutes into the second-half that the young Cork man put his side ahead, again with a penalty.

Munster pressure on the Llanelli scrum after an hour saw the Welsh loose control of the ball and Mike Prendergast - deputising for Peter Stringer - picked the ball up with one hand and dived over from 5 metres. O’Gara converted the extra points.
