A man has been remanded in Limerick charged with the murder of a 21-year-old man early yesterday.
At a special hearing of Limerick District Court yesterday evening, Gerard Hayes (34) of Deer Court, John Carew Park, was charged with the murder, at Deer Court, of Mr John Robinson of Swallow Drive, also John Carew Park. Sgt John Scanlan, Roxboro Garda station, gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution before Judge Tom O'Donnell, saying that Mr Hayes had replied "nothing to say" after being cautioned.
An application by Mr Ted McCarthy, solicitor for Mr Hayes, for legal aid for his client was granted.
Judge O'Donnell remanded Mr Hayes in custody to appear at Limerick District Court next Thursday.
