The jury in the murder trial of Mrs Catherine Nevin has been sent away until tomorrow because she is still in hospital.

Ms Justice Carroll told the jury in the Central Criminal Court that she hoped the trial could resume tomorrow.

Mrs Nevin (49) has pleaded not guilty to the murder of her husband Mr Tom Nevin (54) on March 19th 1996. He was shot dead in the kitchen of their home at Jack White's Inn, Ballinapark, near Brittas Bay, Co Wicklow.

She has also pleaded not guilty to charges of soliciting Mr John Jones in 1989, or Mr Gerry Heapes or Mr William McClean in 1990, to murder her husband.

The jury has heard 23 days of evidence Last Thursday morning, as she was due to continue her evidence in her defence, Mrs Nevin was admitted to hospital.
