A jury in the Central Criminal Court trial of a teenager charged with murder was discharged yesterday after failing to reach a verdict. Mr Alan Lyons (19), of Bonham Street, Dublin, had denied the murder of Mr David Watson (21), of James's Court, Echlin Street, Dublin, at Thomas Street in the city on April 25th, 1998.

Mr David Watson was attacked, robbed and stabbed in the heart after he attempted to recover equipment being stolen from his employers' van. After more than eight hours' deliberation over 25 hours, the foreman conceded no verdict was likely.
