A DUBLIN man, charged with the murder of a Tipperary farmer, Mr Danny Fanning (70), has been remanded in custody to appear at Clonmel Court next Tuesday.

Mr Ivor Sweetman (45), of Bawnlea Green, Jobstown, Tallaght, is charged with murdering Mr Fanning at his home in Rosegreen last February 6th.

Supt Ned O'Dwyer, from Cahir, asked that Mr Sweetman appear at Killinaul District Court next Thursday, but the accused asked that this be changed to Clonmel next Tuesday, so his solicitor could attend.

Judge Michael Patwell, in Youghal District Court, Co Cork, agreed to his request. Mr Sweetman, was handcuffed and had his head covered as he was led away.

He was arrested at 2.30 p.m. in Tallaght last Thursday and was charged at a special sitting of Cashel District Court that evening.

Mr Francis Palmer (26), of Foxborough Road, Lucan, Co Dublin, was charged some weeks ago with the same murder.
