Mr Maurice Ward (56) was shot dead when he answered the front door of his home at Greenfort Avenue in Clondalkin at about 10.30 p.m.

The Garda said no motive has been established for the killing. Mr Ward was a prominent member of child abuse victims' organisation, Survivors Of Child Abuse (SOCA).

Mr Ward was shot twice by a gunman who fled in a stolen car with an accomplice. He was taken to Tallaght General Hospital where he died from his wounds.
