Gardaí in Galway have confirmed a murder investigation is under way following the death of a Latvian man in north Galway.

The upgrade in the inquiry follows a postmortem on the remains of Juris Buls (30), whose body was found at the weekend in woodland in Creggs, near Glenamaddy, on the Galway-Roscommon border.

Details of the postmortem results are not being disclosed for operational reasons. Mr Buls had not been seen at his house at Ballymore Road in Glenamaddy since Thursday, July 7th, when he left for work at Titan Plastics in the north Galway town.

Gardaí said last week they were concerned for his safety as a search continued into his whereabouts.
