Gardaí have confirmed they launched a murder investigation following the discovery of man's body on the roadside in Co Carlow.
The body of local man 61-year-old Michael Murray was found on the Old Dublin Road, Carlow today at 7.30am.
Detectives say he died as a result of an assault.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Old Dublin Road area of Carlow town in the early hours of this morning to contact them at Carlow Garda station on 059 9136620.
