The jury in the Central Criminal Court trial of a man accused of murdering his parents was sent to a hotel last night having failed to reach a verdict.

Mr John Francis Dolan (27), of Ravensdale Road, East Wall, Dublin, denies that on a date unknown between June 16th and June 19th, 1999, he murdered Mrs Gertrude Dolan (56) and her husband, John (71), at the family home.

Mr Justice Carney concluded his charge to the jury yesterday and sent the jury of five men and six women away to consider its verdict in the afternoon.

When it failed to reach a verdict by 6p.m., Mr Justice Carney sent it to a hotel for the night.
