The State will proceed with a case against a man accused of murdering a psychiatric patient in Dublin, a court heard yesterday. Mr Dean Lyons (24) of Castlepark, Tallaght, Co Dublin, is accused of murdering Ms Mary Callinan (61) at sheltered accommodation in Orchard View, Grangegorman on March 6th, 1997.

State solicitor Ms Clare Loftus told Dublin District Court the Director for Public Prosecutions had been making "parallel" inquiries in the case and there had been some progress.

She said these inquiries would take another two weeks to complete and the State would require a further four to six weeks to complete a book of evidence.

Judge Desmond Hogan was told the defendant was consenting to further lengthy adjournment and he was remanded in custody to appear on February 18th.
