Sailing:Olympic qualified Annalise Murphy is now in fifth place at the ISAF World Sailing Championships in Perth.
The 21-year-old was outstanding in her three races on Wednesday, climbing to second place overall and qualifying an Irish boat in the Laser Radial class for London next year
In three races today, she finished 37th, 17th and fourth to lie in fifth place with a two further races and the medal race on Sunday remaining.
"It was tricky out there today. Most people in the top 10 scored badly in one of the races. Annalise did well to recover to 17th in race two and it was good to finish with another top five," Irish Sailing Association Performance Director James O'Callaghan.
In other classes, Ger Owens and Scott Flanigan are currently lying in 34th position in the Gold fleet of the 470 class.
They can still qualify Ireland for the Olympics as the top 19 nations will secure a place and will continue racing until Saturday, with the top 10 then proceeding to the medal race on Sunday.
Ross Hamilton in the Finn is in 65th position and will unfortunately not qualify Ireland for the Olympics at this event. He will have one more opportunity at the Finn World Championships next year.
