Tennis: Another New York downpour left Andy Murray plenty of time to plan a rescue mission in his US Open fourth round tie with Nikolay Davydenko.

Murray, seeded 17th in the men's singles at Flushing Meadows, had just gone two sets to one down against the seventh-seeded Russian at Louis Armstrong Stadium when rain caused a suspension of play that looked set to stretch into the evening.

It was not the first time the 19-year-old Scot had had his schedule disrupted at the final grand slam of the year as Murray's second-round match with Italy's Alessio Di Mauro was delayed on the first Tuesday of the championships.

The prospects of making a return to court during the scheduled day session looked bleak as the rains grew heavier and the skies darker over the Big Apple.

"The weather forecast for the remainder of today's day session does not look encouraging," read a statement from the United States Tennis Association.

But that could prove to be a blessing in disguise for Murray after going behind in this encounter 1-6 7-5 3-6.
