Last year's runner-up Tomas Berdych has been promoted to sixth-seed, while three-time finalist Andy Roddick finds himself seeded eighth.

In the women’s draw defending champion Williams has been seeded eighth despite dropping to 26th in the world rankings after a lengthy spell out with injury and illness since winning the title at the All England Club last year.

However Williams, who has returned to action at the warm-up tournament at Eastbourne, will now avoid the top-ranked players in the opening rounds at SW19.

World number one Caroline Wozniacki has been ranked as the top seed, with Kim Clijsters named as the second seed. Vera Zvonareva is the third seed, with French Open champion Li Na seeded fourth.

The draws for the event are scheduled to take place on Friday.
