Murtagh back to winning ways at Limerick

Johnny Murtagh made a winning return to the saddle when steering Hanabad to victory at Limerick today.

The Meath jockey announced before the Ebor Meeting at York last month that he would be taking a break from the saddle after failing to respond to treatment on a back injury suffered in a fall at Royal Ascot.

The injury meant that Murtagh had trouble maintaining his fitness regime which in turn caused him to suffer with weight problems.

However, his troubles looked to be behind him as he guided Hanabad, who was sent off as the 2-9 favourite, to an easy success for owner the Aga Khan and trainer John Oxx in the Advanced Securities Race.
