The Parades Commission has not placed restrictions on an Apprentice Boys of Derry march next week that will pass the contentious Ardoyne road area of north Belfast other than restricting music and followers from the more sensitive areas of the route.
In a ruling issued this evening, the Commission said it was "appalled at the nature of the Orange parade which passed the Ardoyne shop fronts on the evening of the 12th July. The behaviour of the supporters and followers did little to create confidence in that organiser’s ability to manage further parades in this area responsibly".
The Commission outlined decisions for a number of parades planed from Saturday, August 10th and said that three parades in East Belfast and one in Maghera have had no conditions imposed and many more parades on that date were not even considered contentious.
However, Apprentice Boys parades in Kilrea, Castlederg, Dunloy, Armagh, Bellaghy, Keady and Lurgan have had route restrictions imposed.
This was because of a lack of dialogue between the parade organisers and the communities through which the march route passes.
