Disgraced Romanian international Adrian Mutu, sacked by Chelsea after testing positive for cocaine last month, says the incident has ruined his career.

Mutu was sacked by the Premier League club on Friday for gross misconduct after he tested positive for the drug and he faces a two-year ban from soccer.

"Now my career is in ruins. I might as well walk away from football. What is there left for me?" Mutu told the Sunday Mirror.

"Chelsea have destroyed me. I don't know what I'm going to do. I am shocked and surprised by their decision.

"I didn't expect them to pay me while I was suspended but I never thought they would sack me either," the 25-year-old striker said.

Mutu is the second player to be sacked by Chelsea for cocaine abuse following the dismissal of Australian goalkeeper Mark Bosnich two years ago.
