Drogheda Utd 3 Waterford Utd 0
Drogheda United recorded a much needed victory at O2 Park tonight with a 3-0 triumph over Waterford United.
The club surprisingly sacked manager Harry McCue on Tuesday following a run of four straight defeats but an Andy Myler brace provided a much needed boost for the struggling club.
Myler opened the scoring on 69 minutes before adding another in the final minute of play. Declan O'Brien also scored with a last gasp effort.
The win sees Drogheda climb over Derry City into eighth place although the latter could reclaim that position tomorrow night with a favourable result over Shelbourne.
UCD manager Paul Doolin has emerged as a favourite to fill the vacancy while other candidates may include Roddy Collins, Noel King, Damien Richardson and Monaghan United boss Bobby Browne.
Browne endured a miserable night of his own as his side went down 2-1 to Dundalk at Oriel Park in tonight's only first division game.
